Disabled Writers is a resource to help editors connect with disabled writers and journalists, and journalists connect with disabled sources. Our goal is specifically to promote paid opportunities for multiply marginalized members of the disability community, and to encourage editors and journalists to think of disabled people for stories that stretch beyond disability issues.

I trained as a musician prior to becoming a teacher. In 2012 I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. In 2013 I developed Carpel Tunnel syndrome in both wrists and in 2016 was diagnosed with Cervical Dystonia. Both RA and Dystonia are chronic conditions and I was forced to give up teaching following the Dystonia diagnosis. I am no longer able to work as an employee and I am unable to drive. I retrained in 2017 to work as a copyeditor and proofreader and have begun to write instrumental teaching books. I am a member of the Bader Big Band, an ensemble of exclusively disabled musicians and the only one of its kind in the UK.
