Disabled Writers is a resource to help editors connect with disabled writers and journalists, and journalists connect with disabled sources. Our goal is specifically to promote paid opportunities for multiply marginalized members of the disability community, and to encourage editors and journalists to think of disabled people for stories that stretch beyond disability issues.

I am 32 years old and I have cerebral palsy and Marfan syndrome. I have been an ambassador for Best Buddies, giving speeches all across Illinois about ending usage of the R word, as well as having spoken in front on 2500 students at the Best Buddies Leadership Conference in Indiana, and 900 people at Best Buddies annual gala in Miami. I have served for the last two years on the Board of Directors for Tellin' Tales Theatre, a Chicago based organization with the mission of breaking down the barriers between the disabled and able bodied worlds through the power of personal story.
