I am an experienced writer and editor excited for any opportunities to write criticism and reviews of film and television.
I am a recent graduate of NUI Galway's BA with Creative Writing (English and Philosophy) and have three years' experience as a student journalist, writing in all sections. I was shortlisted for Journalist of the Year at the Student Achievement Awards 2016 for my coverage of the USI's bid to unseat Senator Ronan Mullen and the Kesha lawsuit controversy, as well as a feature on students living with invisible disabilities.
I was the Regional Winner for Munster of the Hot Press Write Touch Competition 2014, for a piece on the left-wing sympathies of Take That, and was Highly Commended in the 2016 and 2017 Undergraduate Awards for essays on the construction of agency in Harry Potter and the portrayal of masculinity in the plays of Samuel Beckett. I am also a published poet.
I co-created The Sundae, a blog of film and TV criticism, with my creative partner, Ciara Moloney, where I write and publish a work of long-form film and TV criticism every fortnight. I write from a left-wing perspective and I'm particularly interested in sitcoms and genre shows, rom-coms, mental illness, faith, class analysis and the work of the Wachowski Sisters.
