Disabled Writers is a resource to help editors connect with disabled writers and journalists, and journalists connect with disabled sources. Our goal is specifically to promote paid opportunities for multiply marginalized members of the disability community, and to encourage editors and journalists to think of disabled people for stories that stretch beyond disability issues.

I am currently a freelance journalist with a degree in Communications, majoring in Journalism, and a certificate in International Communications.. I have worked with high end, reputable magazines in Canada such as Avenue Magazine and WestJet Magazine. I have been recognised by the CAJ (Canadian Association of Journalists) for outstanding reporting, and have also received an award for Multimedia Story of the Year from the ACP (Associated Collegiate Press). I’ve spent time studing in the U.K. under award-winning BBC journalists and music reporters, as well as in Canada under well-known CBC reporters. After losing majority of my vision to an intentional poisoning incident while traveling in Bali, I've lived the last seven years legally blind. As i'm currently working for a theatre company, I find myself constantly surrounded by the arts, dis arts and the evolving Canadian theatre scene. As I seek new opportunities in the journalistic world, I hope to find a career that will suit my bubbly and out going personality.
